About Me
About the Teacher/ Owner:
Hello! My name is Tracy deCarufel. After completing my Honours History BA from Queens' University and teaching English as a Second Language in South Korea, I went on to earn my Bachelor of Eduction from Queen's University in 2007.
I returned to South Korea to teach in an international school before accepting a job in the Turks and Caicos, to teach in a private school, at the primary level. I lived and taught for nine years in the TCI before moving back to Toronto, with my two TCI rescue cats, to attend training with Montessori Teachers College.
I earned my Diploma for Early Childhood Diploma Course (MACTE certified) in 2018. Adopted a stray cat from Toronto to add to our family and moved to Cobourg to teach at a local school and before eventually opening up Ace Montessori. Teddy, a rescue dog, joined us late June 2021.
I absolutely love educating children and am honoured that I am given such a great responsibility from families. The Montessori Method calls to me and I am so happy to be guiding children in this manner.
About Ace Montessori Home Preschool:
The concept for Ace Montessori Home Preschool was initially created while overseas, as I wanted to move back and establish roots in an Ontario community. The goal was to create a small home-based setting for children to grow and develop in a safe, nurturing, and intellectually stimulating environment.
ACE is up to date with Cobourg Fire Department and has no violations of the Ontario Fire Code. My home and preschool is a smoke free environment.
I have obtained a valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check, as well as Julie deCarufel, ACE's supply teacher.
I am also certified in Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C.

Children are provided a safe and nurturing environment in which they feel confident taking steps towards independence and developing positive character traits.
